How to Create a Strong Password
A strong password combines length, randomness, and character diversity. Our generator uses the browser's crypto.getRandomValues() API — the same cryptographic foundation used in TLS and secure token generation — ensuring each character is selected with true entropy rather than a predictable math formula.
NIST 2024 Password Guidelines
NIST Special Publication 800-63B (updated 2024) recommends: minimum 15 characters for memorized secrets, no mandatory complexity rules (length alone is sufficient), no forced periodic rotation unless compromise is suspected, and blocking passwords found in known breach databases (like Have I Been Pwned).
Password Entropy
Entropy measures unpredictability in bits. Each character selected from a pool of N characters adds log₂(N) bits of entropy. A 20-character password using all 95 printable ASCII characters has ~131 bits of entropy — far beyond the reach of any brute-force attack with current hardware.
